Javier Ortega-Ceseña, MS

Senior Industrial Hygienist

Javier Ortega has extensive experience in industrial hygiene, laboratory management, and microbiology. Most notable is his leadership at the Mexican Directorate of Environmental Health, Ministry of Health, where he headed an environmental analysis laboratory. From this post, Mr. Ortega implemented a comprehensive quality control/quality assurance system from sampling design plans through external proficiency testing programs. By appointment at the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico, he also conducted scientific research on human exposure assessment to environmental pollutants.

Mr. Ortega has studied the use of microbial technologies in pollutant degradation and food products production. He has published several research papers in the area of microbiology. He has successfully completed courses in fungal spore identification from the prestigious McCrone Research Institute and a one-year research fellowship at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
